New Box of Reeds

I traded my box of vandoren (grey box) 4s for a blue box of 3 1/2. (aparently Steve didn't have any grey box ones) I just read your reed page and it said:

as gospel, hoever, as all manufacturer's are not created. For example, a 'blue' box of Vandoren #3's are the equivalent of a 'grey' box of Vandoren #3.5's

Am I reading this right? Did I just trade high quality 4s for lower quality 4s? or is it a different cut? I'm quite mad now....

Some new/changes

Howdy folks. A couple things to mention. Check out what's new as I've thrown up a few things - the 'setup' page has some new info as well as the practicing/warmup/tonguing pages too. Robert Spring, a well known clarinet pedagog and performer, has some excellent info and there's a little you-tube blurb about him as well. (stay away from his vibrato imho though).

I'm also going to start an "Orchestral Audition' page for those interested. It will contain audtion practices, orchestral ...

Jesus Christ Superstar

FYI for those who might be interested. Ill be performing in the Musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar' at King Street For the Arts in March and April. It's a pretty cool show. Performances are Mar. 29,30, Apr. 4,5,6 - at least those are the ones I'll be in. During this time I'm going to try to rearrange sectionals for the youth orchestra so that I can still be there for you guys - at the very least, the March 30th one that is JUST sectionals. Perhaps we could do a morning rehearsal, have a 'wind ...

Reminder

Just to reiterate a few things about everyone's lessons... There's a philosophy that most teachers have and one that I employ as well that I think of which we may sometimes lose sight. Many people seek teachers out and believe that they will 'fix' everything you may do incorrectly or provide magical knowledge that will help you double your skills. This is rarely the case. Of course, there's no denying that a private teacher will be able to help you in a myriad of ways, but much of how you ...

Hiya my wonderful protege's. I'll be away from Feb 2nd-Feb10th. Of course, all of you have checked the calender on the site and know this already. Now, if your lesson happens on the 11th of February I WILL be having them. So, keep your heads up and your reeds on tight and take advantage of your small reprive from me!

Scott

Hello Everybody,

I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to come out to one of the two KYO concerts this February. In addition to an awesome program, which includes Bizet, Dvorak, Sibelius, and Rossini, I will be performing the first movement of Weber's 1st Concerto for Clarinet in F minor with the orchestra. It would be really great to have fellow clarinet players there cheering me on. Here are the Details:

Sunday, February 17, 2008

Market Hall, 336 George Street North, ...
