New Box of Reeds

I traded my box of vandoren (grey box) 4s for a blue box of 3 1/2. (aparently Steve didn't have any grey box ones) I just read your reed page and it said:

as gospel, hoever, as all manufacturer's are not created. For example, a 'blue' box of Vandoren #3's are the equivalent of a 'grey' box of Vandoren #3.5's

Am I reading this right? Did I just trade high quality 4s for lower quality 4s? or is it a different cut? I'm quite mad now....

Grey (Vandoren V12's) boxes are BETTER quality reeds but tend to have a nicer cut and are less thick than the blue boxes. It's not the 'end of the world' to use a blue box though. Maddy jsut tried some 3.5 blues and they seemed pretty decent. Don't be too mad!
